One of the new spring releases from Mary Kay that I’m really excited about is the new True Dimensions Lipstick shades. I have the 4 new shades, and one of them has become my latest go-to MLBB (my lips but better) product.
These sheer True Dimension lipsticks more closely resemble tinted lip balms. They feel light and hydrating like a balm, but offer a subtle tint of colour.
The tubes they come in are sheer fun! (Ha, see what I did there?) They have an odd, click from the bottom open that makes me feel like a super spy when I open them. It’s hard to explain what I mean. Ivory Avenue did a neat gif demonstration of how they open.
I’m starting with my favourite shade of the bunch: Sparkling Rose. This looks dark in the tube, but matches my natural lip colour really well, adding shiny and hydration to them. I actually can apply this without looking, which is pretty amazing.
Recognize the photo from last week? I told you it was a sneak peek. I like my close up swatch photos, but I find it also helpful to see full face photos to see the true difference in shade, so here is Sparkling Rose in a full LOTD collage.
Up next is Subtly Yours, which is a nude shade. I rarely think to reach for this type of shade, as I mostly prefer pink or red, but this is a nice subtle neutral wash.
In full face mode, you can see that it tones down my natural lip colour, but doesn’t take it into undead territory, like some nudes can do.
Arctic Apricot looked scary carrot orange in my hand swatch, but was a pretty orange-pink on my lips.
I almost always wear orange lip products with green eye products. I don’t know why, but I always associate those two shades together.
Last, but definitely not least, is Posh Pink, which is a Barbie pink. This is a fun and young feeling colour.
All four of these lip products are easy to wear, and feel very hydrating like a balm. At $19 each, they are a lot more expensive than most tinted balms, but these do have a very luxurious feel. I am really loving Sparkling Rose in particular.
