Confession time: I’ve never really understood the obsession with Hello Kitty. It’s just not something I’ve ever connected with. Too jaded, maybe. But what I do go crazy for is amazing pigmentation in eyeshadow. So when I saw amazing swatches for the Hello Kitty Pop-Up Party Eyeshadow Palette, I got curious, and when I needed to make a Sephora order to get my birthday gift, I chose this palette as my birthday treat.

This palette features 20 eyeshadows in a variety of shades, in fancy cardboard packaging.

The top of the palette opens up to reveal a pop-up Hello Kitty scene, while the actual shadows are in a tray that pulls out.

As you can see, the palette features a wide variety of colours, both matte and shimmery. There are enough neutrals to satisfy most users, as well as even bright shades to satisfy more adventurous users (i.e. me).

The shadow names are only on the plastic insert, so it is handy to keep that. Not only does it have the names, but it also helps protect the shadows as you move the tray in and out of the packaging.

I don’t even know where to start with my commentary on the swatches. Basically I need to just scream that these are awesome, with and without primer. There really are no duds here, although a few of the brighter colours do perform better with primer.

Overall, I am so in love with this palette. By that I mean the shadows themselves. The packaging is a bit bulky and awkward, and if I was ever to depot something, I’d start with this palette.

This palette isn’t available online anymore, and I’m not sure about in stores, but if you do see it, I’d definitely recommend grabbing it. You won’t be disappointed.

This is the part where I normally post a bunch of LOTD photos, but since there are so many colours, I don’t want to overload the post. Check back on Sunday for a special LOTD round-up using the Hello Kitty Pop-Up Party Eyeshadow Palette.

  1. Great post girl!

I like Hello Kitty because I love all things adorable. I’m not one of those people who buy hk just because it’s hk though.

When I first seen this palette I thought it’d be something for hk collectors bit not for people who want actually nice shadows lol. Kinda looked cheap, especially with that pop up thing.

Now that I see your swatches, I’m disappointed that I didn’t pick it up (especially since it went on clearance for half price at Sephora). The swatches are gorgeous, even without the white base. My fave swatchew are the blue, aqua, violet, and purple. So vibrant!

Look forward to your LOTD roundup.

    • Thanks! I was so surprised by the performance of the shadows. At first glance this looks like a collector’s piece, but it really is usable. Too bad it’s not available anymore.

  2. Happy and Dear Daniel is so nice!! Wow I Hi honestly didn’t expect this pigmentation from hello kitty! Super cute palette too!

  3. i was definitely surprised by how much i loved this palette! the packaging is super bulky though.

  4. I’m so with you on the Hello Kitty stuff. I’m obsessed with cats, but I’ve always thought the Hello Kitty stuff was just flat out WEIRD.

This palette though… the colours are very, VERY interesting.I like that they’ve packed so many colours in there.

    • This palette is so awesome. I love that there is so much variety in colour. It makes for lots of options.
