Dec 162015

December is going by crazy fast, and it’s already time to talk about my Amoda Tea Tasting box. This month, there are 2 special things about my box that make super happy, and highlight how being a repeat purchaser from a small company can work in your favour.

Instead of the usual tiny box, mine arrived in a slighter larger box this month, for a very good reason: it included a travel pouch! This bag fits 4-6 sample packs, and was made by women in Kolkata who have been trapped in the sex trade. There was a lovely note in the bag that said this pouch was a thank you gift to me for being a loyal subscriber and blogger. It was unexpected, and such a sweet gesture.

My box included the following teas:

Cinnamon Caramel – a black tea with cinnamon and caramel flavouring
This tea isn’t in most people’s box. Instead, most people got Christmas Surprise, which is a pumpkin rooibos. This is the second lovely surprise as shortly before the boxes shipped, I got an email asking if I wanted to switch my rooibos for a black tea variety, since they know I don’t usually care for rooibos. Again, such a sweet gesture!

Chai Green – A traditional chai with a spicy kick

White Coconut – A white tea with coconut

Austrian Orange – A black tea that tastes like chocolate orange (with no actual chocolate)

The insert is always thoughtfully written and includes information about the box theme, the actual teas, and often has serving suggestions. This month, there is also mention of a holiday Instagram contest. Follow @amodatea on Instagram and tag @amodatea #amodatea in your tea moment photos for a chance to win 4 of your favourite monthly box teas in 50g sizes. Winner will be announced on Jan 8, 2016.

If you need some suggestions of Amoda Teas to try, you can check out the offerings on their website (the tasting box is $18 per month with free shipping), read my past reviews (going back to March 2015), or wait for my Best of Amoda Tea post coming next week.
