I shared the first half of my Avon Gel Finish order last week, and now it’s time for the second trio of polishes. As usual, I have swatches, and then some fun nail art.

The three polishes I have today are Inked Up (super dark blue), Royal Vendetta (bright blue) and Very Berry (red-purple). All of my swatches are two coats, with no topcoat.

Avon Gel Finish in Inked Up

First up is Inked Up, which is a super dark blue. It looks almost black, except not quite.

There is a hint of blueness to it, which is more apparent in person, and this makes it feel slightly more sophisticated than plain black.

Next is Royal Vendetta. This is the type of bright blue that I love. Similar to the purple I tried last week, I almost stopped as soon as I applied this. It’s just so gorgeous!

There is a bright fun-ness to this blue that is impossible to explain or deny.

Avon Gel Finish in Very Berry

Last up is Very Berry, which is a berry red-purple. I almost didn’t swatch this one, which is why you get to see it on my right hand. I did this after my nail art since I decided I should be complete in my swatching.

The first coat of this felt very jelly, but as you can see, 2 coats is completely opaque. This feeling was true for all 2 of today’s shades.

Now on to some nail art! I decided to try a plaid nail art look today. I will admit that it didn’t turn out at all like I planned, but it’s still pretty.

I started with base colours, 2 coats of Inked Up on most of my nails, with 2 coats of Royal Vendetta on my ring finger as an accent.

I then used a plaid design on the Born Pretty plate BPL-0006 plate and stamped that on all my nails. The dark blue was stamped over using LA Colors Art Deco in Silver. This is my favourite silver stamping polish as it always works beautifully. Over the bright blue I stamped using Konad Special Polish in Black.

The reason I say my look didn’t turn out the way I want was because I recently bought a clear stamper so I could do some fancy placement with double stamping, but I can’t get it to work. The stamper just won’t pick up anything, no matter what polish, stamp, or technique I use. Very frustrating.

While my end look isn’t what I started out wanting, I do like it. It’s simple, yet fun, which is the style I enjoy most.

I signed off last week saying I highly recommend these polishes, and while they are regularly $9 each, I know the current catalogue has them on sale for $4.99. This is still very true. Have you seen any that you might want to pick up?

  1. The finish on them is amazing!

  2. Loving the plaid look, I tried tartan nails this morning hated it and took it off even before photos

  3. I love, love, love that glossy gel-like finish! They look stunning. I love the plaid nail art too! I have a whole bunch of stampers but I always forget to use them… Maybe I’ll get ambitious with my next manicure!

    • Stamping is a relatively easy way to add nail art to any look! I’m always amazed at how stamping can turn out.
