We go through a lot of sunscreen in my house. I have a son who is ghost pale with red hair, so we’re talking several bottles every summer. Both he and I prefer spray applications, so when I had the opportunity to try out the new Coppertone Clearly Sheer Spray for Body, you better believe I practically screamed “pick me!”
Coppertone Clearly Sheer Spray for Body is an SPF 30, water resistant sunscreen that uses a fine spray to deliver a moisturizing and matte application.
I found the spray on this sunscreen to be almost too fine. It was hard to tell how much product was actually being applied. There is definitely a matte finish, which adds to the difficulty in determining how much coverage you’re getting as it doesn’t feel like other sunscreens. Normally I spray liberally and then rub it in to make sure coverage is good. This sunscreen was too fine for that, and the matte finish made rubbing and redistributing product tricky.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ll still use the whole bottle, and in record time, especially since I’m probably applying more since I can’t accurately gauge our usage, but I don’t think we’ll buy it again. It’s funny, but I think I prefer the regular shiny, slightly slick, slightly heavier spray of other bottles for application to my son. I do see how this spray would be nice if it was just for me though.
While I may not rebuy the Coppertone Clearly Sheer Spray for Body, I still highly respect and trust the Coppertone name, so I’ll just reach for a different version on the shelf when I need to replace this bottle.
