If you’ve read any of my past posts, you probably already know that I love seeing the new Quo Cosmetics collections. Especially the packaging. They change up the pattern on the exterior of the products with every collection. I’m always super excited to see what the next pattern will be. The fall 2016 collection pattern was made specifically for me, I’m sure of it.

Just look at that packaging! Multiple purple shades with a leafy pattern? It’s so gorgeous!

See?! See?! So pretty. I’m not even sure I care about the products inside, I just want the pattern.

Just kidding, of course the products are important too.

Quo fall 2016 collection

This collection is a fairly standard Quo collection. There are two face palettes, 3 eyeshadow palettes, an eyebrow palette, 3 matte lipsticks, and a brush set. I have one of everything, including the brush set, which I’ll be posting about separately.

First, a quick word about the eyebrow palette. Quo tends to use the same eyebrow product in their spring and fall collections every year, at least for the past few years. I received the same palette in fall 2014 and spring 2015. I don’t mind as the dark shade is perfect for me, and I use it almost every day. I’ve completely used up one palette already, so I appreciate that Quo makes it easy for me to replace it.

Quo eyeshadow palette in Clean Sweep swatch

First, the eyeshadow palette in Clean Sweep. For some reason, I always have high hopes for the eyeshadows, but I’m often disappointed. Quo tends to do great neutral shadows (like their holiday Back to Basics palettes) but their limited edition collections tend to be subpar. This palette is no exception, unfortunately.

When looking at this palette, I see 3 groupings: a quad of neutrals on the left, a trip of greys on the top right and a trio of blues on the bottom right. The performance of all of these shadows is not great. The light shadows tend to have little pigmentation, and the darker ones are patchy. The colour choices in this palette also don’t make a lot of sense, as they don’t seem to coordinate well together.

Moving on to the face palette in Perfectly Ordinary makes me much happier. Quo tends to have great face products for light skintones. This palette is a good example of this. The palette has a blush, highlighter and bronzer. The blush is a dusty pink that I love for winter wear, the highlighter has a pink glow that is subtle, but looks healthy, and the bronzer may look dark in the pan, but is a very wearable and blendable shade.

Quo Matte lipstick in Brandy swatch

The lipsticks in the collection are a trio of matte lipsticks. I have Brandy, which is the lightest, pinkest shade. I was surprised at how pink this actually is, I was expecting a darker berry shade based on the name.

This is a fairly comfortable lipstick to wear. It applied easily, although it does have some grip, and so it’s not super smooth to apply. It didn’t make my lips feel or look dry while I wore it. Really, the only downside was that the colour wasn’t what I expected.

Overall, the collection is fun, and has colours appropriate to the fall season. There aren’t any surprises here in terms of selection or performance, but once again, Quo Cosmetics knocked it out of the park with their packaging choice.

  1. I’m really, really surprised how pink that lipstick shade is. Especially for something with a name like “Brandy”! Looks beautiful on you though!

  2. Ohhh I love the packaging, it’s too bad that the eyeshadows aren’t good.

    • The packaging is gorgeous. The eyeshadows aren’t that great, but I have to admit that I don’t expect much from Quo shadows any more.
