What is this? I actually have a #ManiMonday look? Aren’t you impressed? Full credit goes to my new DIY lightbox, which allowed me to do my look and photograph it in the evening.
But on with the nail art!
I recently won the CND Vinylux New Wave Collection in a giveaway from Olive & Ivy, and was quite excited. I’ve never tried CND Vinylux polish before. CND has several different lines of polish, and the Vinylux line is a 7-day wear polish that comes in over 100 shades.
The New Wave Collection has 6 bright and fun shades in it, and I decided to use 3 in this marbled look.
First I did a base coat of CND Vinylux in Pink Leggings. This is 2 coats of polish. It’s a thin polish, which meant I flooded my cuticle easily, but it dries fast, and self-levels into a beautifully smooth finish. This is fully opaque in 2 coats, and this hot pink shade is super fun.
After my base coat dried, I used a balled up piece of plastic wrap to apply a marblized gradient of CND Vinylux in Video Violet and Blue Eyeshadow.
The blue and purple shades are a little closer than I expected, which meant there wasn’t as much contrast in the marbling as I hoped for, but I think the end look matches the vibrant retro feel of the collection as a whole.
I also received the Weekly Top Coat. It’s not as shiny or as thick as I was expecting. It almost has a slightly rubber/wax finish, and doesn’t leave as smooth a finish as I like.
Overall, the look didn’t quite turn out the way I expected, but I still really like it. I saved the super bright shades from this collection for my next look, so I hope it turns out the way I’m imagining it. This was still fun and pretty though.
(And can we take a moment to love how the photos are so bright? Yay lightbox!)
